The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Hollywood Division compiled video from cameras worn by officers who responded to the scene and the cell phones of witnesses, providing more information about the death of a 22-year-old suspect, Nathaniel Pinnock, last year. Police said the incident occurred on November 25 at around 11:20 a.m. after Pinnock committed an armed robbery at a local auto parts store, KABC reported. The graphic footage, released to YouTube yesterday alongside a brief summary of the probe, shows the seconds leading up to the fatal shooting, with the suspect seen charging toward an officer after initially trying to flee from the area in a vehicle....

A duck was also found alive with a severed bill in June and died shortly after being found by a parkgoer. The two ducks discovered more recently were taken to Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center, where they had to be euthanized because of the injuries. Two turtles have also been found beheaded in the same park. Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center Executive Director Debbie McGuire said the two ducks found alive in July and August were suffering from starvation, as ducks cannot eat without their bills....

Until now, researchers had seen the phenomenon in simulations, but after observing the spiral galaxy NGC 4921 they may now have proof that it happens. The scientists made the observations using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) observatory in Chile, and their results are due to be published in The Astrophysical Journal. The lead author is William Cramer, an astronomer at Arizona State University. When a galaxy moves through space, it experiences an effect known as ram pressure stripping, in which gas gets stripped away from the galaxy by a sort of cosmic wind that exists in between it and other galaxies....
