Pedroia will miss Sunday night’s clash against the Kansas City Royals and may miss Monday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays as well. The Red Sox will not make a corresponding roster move to take his place.

With a chance to tie the MLB record with 12 consecutive hits Saturday night, Pedroia ultimately grounded into a double-play to finish one hit short.

During the torrid stretch, Pedroia became the first hitter since 1913 with three consecutive games of four-plus hits at Fenway Park.

Aaron Hill and Brock Holt will likely help fill in for Pedroia until he returns.
