We’re not talking about Miles the Monster, the track’s ominous mascot. We’re talking about the driver who won three of the past five races at the one-mile track.

Forty cars arrived at Dover for this week’s AAA 400 Drive for Autism. The 48 car will be the one every team watches.
Why? Because Johnson has won 10 times at Dover, beginning with the spring race in 2002. In fact, he won the fall Dover race that year too, setting the tone for more than a decade of success.

There were bad moments for Johnson as well, most notably last fall’s race with the Chase for the Sprint Cup in the balance. An inexpensive part failed; a rear axle seal. Johnson’s Chase ended that day.
The spring race was his record 10th victory at Dover, in which Johnson led 23 laps. They were the last ones of the race.

All three NASCAR national series are in action this weekend. Truck Series practice was held Thursday, with its race Friday. The Xfinity Series begins work on Friday to prep for Saturday’s race.
