The league on Sunday fined Green $50,000 for tampering after the comments he made Friday as a guest analyst on TNT’s “Inside the NBA.” The NBA said his remarks violated the league’s anti-tampering rule.

Green started by praising Booker and the Suns for their undefeated start in the NBA bubble but later added, “but get my man out of Phoenix.”

“It’s not good for him. It’s not good for his career,” Green said. “… They gotta get Book out of Phoenix. I need my man to go somewhere where he can play great basketball all the time and win, because he’s that type of player.”

Green was asked by TNT’s Ernie Johnson whether he thought his comments were tampering, and Green responded, “Maybe.”

The NBA has decided that they were.

Booker is under contract with the Suns through the 2023-24 season. The 23-year-old, who averages 26.4 points per game this season, signed a five-year, $158 million extension with the team in July 2018.

Phoenix, which has not reached the postseason in 10 years, is a half-game behind the Trail Blazers for the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference.
