If the race sponsor’s motto is “good stuff cheap,” Gibbs should use “fast stuff weekly.” Whether it’s Kyle Busch stepping down to run in the subseries or hotshot developmental drivers Jones and Suarez, Gibbs Toyotas lead Xfinity Series speed tests and win races.
Chevys and Fords challenge the Gibbs drivers each week, as they will for 200 laps on the concrete at Dover. But it has become apparent at every track the Gibbs cars are the ones to beat.
Sunday, Gibbs puts four cars on the track for the AAA 400, starting about 1 p.m. ET. By the way, Busch was fastest in Saturday’s first Cup practice, ahead of teammates Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards. He was also among leaders in the afternoon runs.
