Frane, 51, and Chapman, 67, started dating earlier this year. Chapman proposed at their home in Colorado, where they’ve been sheltering in place in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In June 2019, Chapman’s fifth wife and Dog and Beth: On the Hunt costar, Beth Barmore, died of throat cancer. Together, they had three children, including Barmore’s daughter from a previous relationship, who Chapman adopted (Chapman also has nine children from previous relationships).
Speaking with The U.S. Sun, Frane described how grief united her with Chapman, since she also lost her former husband to illness.
“The truth is that both of us have spent three years walking alongside our spouses sick and we know that God brought us together and that’s why we don’t believe that it’s too soon,” Frane said. “We both have done our share of screaming and crying and asking why.”
Frane is the co-owner of two clothing stores in Colorado. After breaking with girlfriend Moon Angell in February, Chapman attempted to contract Francie’s husband, Bob Frane, to do work on his home, only to learn he had died months earlier. After growing closer, Frane moved in with Chapman earlier this year and the two made their relationship public in March.
Unlike the reality star, Frane was not previously a public figure. On her Instagram account she shares photos of life on her Colorado ranch and also Bible quotes related to her relationship with Chapman.

In 2016, Frane opened a second location of her Castle Rock, Colorado clothing store Twisted Wardrobe Boutique in the town of Parker, Colorado, outside of Denver.
A former bail bondsman and bounty hunter, Chapman captured cosmetics heir Andrew Luster—wanted for multiple rapes and sexual assaults—in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in 2003. Both were subsequently arrested by Mexico police, drawing international press attention and leading to the A&E reality TV series Dog the Bounty Hunter in 2004. The show ran for eight seasons, interrupted by a 2007 hiatus, after his son Tucker sold a recording of a phone call to The National Enquirer featuring Chapman using racial slurs in relation to Tucker’s black girlfriend.

“My father has gone through so much this past year without my mother,” daughter Bonnie Chapman commented on her father’s Instagram post sharing news of the engagement. “It’s been extremely difficult to see one parent pass, and the other so intent on following. My father deserves to be happy.”
“There will never another Mrs. Dog, but there can be a Mrs. Chapman,” Bonnie added.
