Ryu was supposed to come back sooner, but he has endured multiple minor setbacks on his road to recovery. He threw 84 pitches in a rehab start Friday for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and has since been given the green light.

“I think any time you go through a rehab process, that last step, getting back to a major league level, you can’t simulate in any way,” Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said Sunday, via ESPN.com. “He attacked the rehab process in a way that showed how much he wanted to get back, and I think each start has gotten progressively better, which is what you expect to see.”
