The Marlins get salary relief from getting rid of Latos and Morse, and not much else.

To Braves: IF Hector Olivera, LHP Paco Rodriguez, RHP Zack Bird and the Marlins’ 2016 competitive-balance draft pick

To Marlins: RHP Jeff Brigham, RHP Victor Araujo and RHP Kevin Guzman

The trade had been in the works for a while, and on Thursday the teams finally completed negotiations. The Braves acquire Olivera, who was signed out of Cuba this spring on a six-year, $62 million deal by the Dodgers.

Atlanta gave up a lot in the deal. Wood, 24, went 21-20 in 86 games (55 starts) with a 3.10 ERA during parts of three seasons in the majors. Peraza was also considered one of the team’s top minor league prospects.

Wood, a left-hander, has a 3.54 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP and a 90:36 K:BB ratio over 119 1/3 innings. Latos is 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 starts. The duo, if they stay, would aid the Dodgers’ rotation, which has used 14 different starting pitchers this year and needs a steady arm behind Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.

Morse has struggled this season in Miami with a .214/.277/.314 slash line and just four home runs after a solid 2014 with the Giants (.279/.336/.475, 16 homers, 61 RBIs).

Although Olivera, 30, has been dogged by concerns about his throwing elbow, he has batted .348/.392/.493 in the Dodgers’ minor league system since signing a six-year, $62.5 million contract in March. The Braves reportedly offered Olivera a four-year, $40 million contract during the free-agent bidding last winter.

Johnson has a 2.25 ERA with nine saves entering Wednesday’s games, while Avilan, 25, owns a 4.57 ERA over 43 1/3 innings.

Peraza is one of the Braves’ top position-player prospects. He has stolen 202 bases and compiled a .303 batting average in his five-year minor league career. He was moved from second base to outfield earlier this season at Triple-A Gwinnett.

Rodriguez is recovering from elbow tendinitis this season. He owns a 2.53 ERA over 124 major league appearances.
