The Mavericks forward needed 10 points against the Nets to surpass Shaquille O’Neal (28,596 points) for sixth on the all-time NBA’s scoring list. He passed the legendary big man on a midrange jumper over Andrea Bargnani, with 9:51 to play in the second quarter.

Nowitzki finished with 22 points in the Mavs’ 119-118 win over the Nets.

He now trails Wilt Chamberlain (31,419) for fifth on the list. Not bad for a guy who was booed on draft night back in 1999.
