The biggest shock of all was the shooting of Jamie (Micheal Ward) by Sully (Kane Robinson).

The pair had never quite seen eye-to-eye, but after Jamie had proved his loyalty to Dushane (Ashley Walters), Sully’s ambush of Jamie in his own home, in front of his brothers, was seriously shocking.

Fans have been left devastated by Sully’s decision to shoot Jamie, leaving many hoping Jamie is not dead after all. Did Jamie die in Top Boy, and what does this mean for Season 3?

Newsweek has everything you need to know.

Did Jamie Die In Top Boy?

Unfortunately, it is looking very likely that Jamie Tovell died in Top Boy Season 2 (or Season 4 for fans of Top Boy: Summerhouse).

For Sully, the shooting of his best friend Kit (Kadeem Ramsey), for killing Ats (Keiyon Cook), was not enough of a reason to trust him.

Just hours before Sully decided to brandish his weapon, Dushane had informed Sully of his plans to keep Jamie in Summerhouse, so he and Sully could retire.

However, Sully did not seem happy with Jamie’s continued involvement in their drug empire and left Dushane stating their plans “ain’t aligning.”

Sully had reasons not to trust Jamie. After all, Jamie had tried to get him killed in Season 1 and Sully knew Jamie had tried to strike a deal with Juan in Morocco behind Dushane’s back.

In Morocco, Sully threatened Jamie he would “bury” him if he looked at him wrong, adding: “You think I’ve forgotten?” referring to Jamie’s prior attempts on his life.

“Dushane told me everything that happened in the past is done,” replied Jamie, to which Sully asserted: “Dushane don’t speak for me.” With Jamie now set in Dushane’s eyes to become the next Top Boy, Sully, who did not want to retire, just wiped out his competition.

Moments later, Jamie answered the door to Sully holding a gun who shot him twice in the chest. When Jamie hit the ground, Sully shot Jamie once in the head and fled, leaving him bleeding out on the ground.

Micheal Ward, who played Jamie in Top Boy, also may have confirmed he would not be returning to Top Boy if it was renewed for a third season on Netflix, by posting a tribute to his time on the show.

Alongside behind-the-scenes images on the Top Boy set with his fellow castmates, Ward wrote: “Made some memories that’ll last forever with some people I’ll never forget.”

Of course, fans of Jamie are hoping he survives the shooting, with many hoping it was all a horrible dream. Commenting under Ward’s Instagram post, one fan wrote: “Naw bro THEY BETTER BRING YOU BACK ‼️”

A second fan commented: “NOOO, are you confirming it? Jamie has to come back.” A third fan added: “Bro I’m begging that you dreamed that we need you in season 3 pls.”

If Jamie is dead, many Top Boy fans think in Season 3, his younger brother Stef (Araloylin Oshunremi) will step up to take revenge against Sully for his brother’s death. After all, before Sully fired the final shots, he looked Stef right in the eye.

Stef had also started to embark on the path Jamie did as a young kid and proved earlier in the season he had absolutely no issue with brandishing a gun at a group of older people involved in the world of crime and violence.

On the other hand, as Stef and Aaron (Hope Ikpoku Jnr.) witnessed the killing of Jamie, their lives could be in serious danger.

Top Boy fans have been sharing their thoughts on what Jamie’s death means for Season 3. Some believe Stef will step up as Top Boy and take revenge going forward and on the other, some suspect Jaq will not become the focus of Dushane’s “retirement plan.”

One fan tweeted: “Imagine if Top Boy Season 3 shows us Stef getting revenge or going on to the roads.”

A second fan said: “I feel Stef is gonna be Top Boy soon.”

A third fan added: “Stef bout to be the next Top Boy, I can smell it. #TBS2.”

Reddit user AquafinaIsntWater wrote: “Jamie dying sets up Jaq as their retirement plan instead. Dushane was wrong for thinking the kid who he forced to murder his best friend wouldn’t try to end him down the road. Sully did what he had to do. Definitely not a “pointless” death.”

One Top Boy fan tweeted: “What if at the end of it all, Sully, Dushane, and the rest of them fall off just to see Jaq rise to become the ‘Top Boy’. #TopBoyNetflix”

A second fan added: “Jaq putting in mad work this season she’s the real Top Boy”

Top Boy is streaming on Netflix now.
