Kizer threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns on an incredibly efficient 15-of-18 passing day. He also tacked on 35 rushing yards and score on the ground.
Kizer wasn’t guaranteed the starting job this season when Malik Zaire returned from a broken ankle that ended his 2015 season. Kizer went 8-3 while throwing 21 touchdowns as Zaire’s replacement.

Zaire still played Saturday once the game was out of reach for Nevada and performed well. He could still very well lead the Irish with his skill set, but Kizer has made the most of his opportunity and separated himself.
